Like its neighbor Nova Scotia, the province of New Brunswick had a considerable amount of labor strife in the spring and summer of 1941. The situation was most serious in the Minto mines but also affected the longshoremen and other workers important for the war effort. Although some of the fundamental difficulties had not been cleared up by the end of the year, the number of strikes was materially reduced in the last few months of 1941 as a result of the conciliation efforts of the Dominion Government. No anti-strike legislation was invoked.
New Brunswick passed its quota, on June 19, in the Dominion $600,000,000 Victory Loan of 1941. It was the seventh province to attain its objective.
